Why giving up sugar will never work

Tiffany: Do you think we could give up sugar?

Natalie: Why?

Tiffany: Because it's making me fat because I eat it all the time.

Natalie: What do you eat that has sugar in it all the time?

Tiffany: Ice cream, Rootbeer floats, Crunch n Munch, Jelly Beans, Mike n Ikes... I want something sweet every night...

Natalie: We don't eat it all that often.

Tiffany: Yes we do... I think it would be good for us

Natalie: But you couldn't eat Craisins

Tiffany: I mean things without added sugar.

Natalie: Do you think cranberries are made with sugar?

Tiffany: Oh shit...

February 2008

February brought the beginning of Portland Teen Idol, which was the most and least enjoyable part of my job for the next five months.

It also brought the beginning of Uganda planning. I was the first person to turn in my application, and of course it got lost. Maybe that was supposed to mean something?

Short month, short memory... All I remember is at this point I couldn't wait until June.

Notable Events:

1.) On Valentine's Day my friend Andrea left me a gift. It was my "Love is a Battlefield" T-shirt... I heart Pat Benetar.

January 2008

Two-thousand-eight was off to a rough start about a week before it even started. My then roommate agreed to marry her boyfriend of about three months, which meant I had to think about moving at the end of March. I absolutely hate moving, and I have moved an average of once every two years. I loved her dearly, and still do, but I was miserable. Due to my constant moving, I've never felt at home anywhere. Plus, I really disliked living in Gresham.

This month was also the beginning of the end of my position at the City. Moments I don't want to relive, but great experience of dealing with bureaucracy and learning to take the fall for someone else. I also learned just how resistant the older crowd is to new technology. Technology that isn't even that new to us, it's just that they don't know how to use it. They're afraid of it--it might be the beginning to the end of their employment--rather than embracing it. At least if they embraced it they could make themselves more valuable to the company in the long run. What does fear do?

Notable News:

1.) I planned a training on Homelessness, which gave me better information and perspective about those without homes in my own city.

2.) I began a Word Perspectives class, which is also known as Pathways to Global Understanding. I got to do "school" again, which I loved, and learned the history of missions in a biblical sense. I also began to consider the changes that would occur in that realm.

Rumination of a Housewife

Rumination: The state of being disposed to ruminate or ponder; deliberate meditation or reflection.

Housewife: To manage with skill and economy, as a housewife or other female manager; to economize.

This blog is a reflection of my crazy life during 2008 as told through the eyes of me and my Tiffany, as well as memoirs of my current state of being.

Why the title "housewife" you may be asking, but all will be divulged in due time.

Stay tuned.
